NEW DELHI: Social media is just not for social gatherings, meetings and chit-chatting anymore, and we all have seen that in several incidents. From Bollywood hitting back to the trolls to the help that it has extended in searching wanted people, social media is platform that nobody can escape from in today’s age. In the most recent episode, the story of this Pakistani lady has yet another time proven that social media is a powerful instrument.
We have often seen the Humans of New York (HONY) sharing several stories on its Facebook page about the people of Pakistan. However, none of them could gain the attention as much as this mother who was seeking help not only for herself but for her daughter also after coming out of an abusive relationship.
On August 13, in a heart-touching post, the woman talked about being ill wanted her daughter to be adopted by someone. The post was immediately shared by another user who a kind gentleman was trying to help her out.
Outpouring response on both the posts for the woman was not only overwhelming for her but also people touched by her story. While many posted comments asking to get in touch with her, there were a few of the thousands who actually offered to extend their help.
In one of the biggest win of the social media, the Humans of New York finally tracked her down and is now set to change her life forever.
“Thanks everyone. Based on the outpouring of offers and support from yesterday, hopefully we can help her heal and get back on her feet,” they said on Facebook.
