After 84 days of intense protests and an ongoing relay hunger strike. The government today announced the rollout of the One Rank One Pension Scheme for ex servicemen. It was a day of fast paced developments, when the Defence Minister announced it at about 3 pm today.
The content of the government's "best offer" did not really pacify most agitating veterans. The reason is certain clauses in the announcement namely a five yearly review of the pension instead of the two yearly review that veterans had asked for and two the clause about those who took premature retirement from the services being kept out. That resulted in most veterans welcoming the in principle rollout but still expressing their reservation about the proposal.
