A 120-second meeting between Prime Minister Modi and his Pakistani counterpart in Paris has sparked major buzz of, excuse the pun, a climate change in Indo-Pak ties.
The commetariat and political class are on overdrive. All sorts of questions are being asked.
Was it a spontaneous meeting or was it scripted? What was the PM telling Nawaz Sharif so intently? What has changed since September when the two took care not to cross paths in New York? Who initiated the meeting? When was the first move made? If it was India then does this constitute a Dramtic Climbdown? Will the meet be seen as a concession by India which has insisted against any meeting till Pak turns off the Terror tap? If it is a precursor to a full Fledged engagement then does this u-turn suggest that India has no defined Pak policy?
