Seven bravest of brave Indians have laid down their lives to defend us from Pakistan's deprivations. India is mourning their death. Barely 7 days after Prime Minister Modi reposed the faith of a billion Indians upon Pakistan when he in an unprecedented move hugged his counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.
Today that faith lies shattered and that very road to peace is stained by Indian blood. Lieutenant colonel Niranjan Kumar, Subedar-Major Fateh Singh, Corporal Gursewak Singh, Jagdish Chand, Hawaldar Sanjeev Kumar, Hawaldar Kulwant Singh deserve better.
This government needs to show demonstrable action. We're not talking about starting a full-fledged military conflict. That would be too imprudent and I daresay downright foolhardy. But short of a war there are a wide variety of steps, as we'll elaborate, that can be taken.
The time has come for this government to heed the national sentiment. It was this national cry for a strong clear-eyed policy focusing on putting India's national interest first that put PM Narendra Modi in office in 2014. He and this government would do well to be guided by his own promises and his party manifesto. There isn't a moment to lose. India demands action. It wants to make Pakistan pay.
