Twelve years after Ishrat Jahan was gunned down with three of her associates on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, 26/11 plotter David Colemen Headley has told the Mumbai court that yes, Ishrat Jahan was indeed part of Lashkar's women wing and was a Fidayeen bomber.
Headley also revealed that Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi spoke about Ishrat after the encounter. These claims by Headley have sparked a massive political face-off, with the BJP claiming vindication. The BJP now wants the Congress to apologise for its stand on the encounter. Remember, the Congress has used this encounter as a political weapon against the BJP. Even now, the Congress has defended its stance, saying that terrorist or not, Ishrat encounter was fake.
There are some, who even see a bigger conspiracy in Headley's statements but, the bigger question is, when our political class trusted Headley over his ISI & Pak army revelations, can his revelations about Ishrat be rejected as an outlandish claim by a double agent.
