Why have public sector banks woken up now to recover loans given to Vijay Mallya four years ago? Who all have been protecting Mallya? 17 banks, led by SBI, have approached court seeking the arrest of the tycoon and the impounding of his passport. They've declared him a 'wilful defaulter' of 7,000 crores of loans that his now defunct, Kingfisher Airlines, took from them.
The banks also want that the 500 crore that Diageo is paying Mallya to exit from another company founded by his family, United Spirits, should be restrained. This is the Sunday Nation at 9 debate with Jujhar Singh (NewsX channel.)
