Water is a scarce resource – every third Indian is facing a day to day struggle to get enough water – but the grim reality is that netas are untouched. Especially in Maharashtra, the top politicians are wasting water without realising how their splurge is nothing less than insult to injury to drought victims. And as if that were not enough, top Maharashtra ministers have unpaid water bills running into lakhs of rupees. These bills, even when paid, will not change the ground reality. But they are a stark reminder of why India still is a developing nation despite having the potential to break all barriers.
