It was a day that began with J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti landing in Delhi to meet the Prime Minister to find a roadmap to bring the current unrest in Kashmir to an end. After meeting the Prime Minister, she told the press that while Islamabad is trying its best to foment trouble in the Valley, she is confident that the centre under the leadership of PM Modi will find a solution to end the crisis.
Within hours Islamabad announced a special team of envoys to rake up Kashmir globally. But while it tried to internationalise Kashmir, its own people showed the Sharif govt a mirror, rising in protest in Germany and London thanking the Indian govt for supporting their cause.
With Pakistan shamed globally, it’s time for India to turn the screws on Islamabad.
Can New Delhi maintain the fine balance between isolating Pakistan while reaching out to its own people to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem?
