It is ironical that the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ which is touted as one of the biggest love stories of the year has sparked a big war.
The Exhibitors Association has announced that Karan Johar's film starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan won't be released in 4 states. The call was taken supposedly in synch with the mood of the nation. The decision has sharply divided Bollywood.
Some say the producer will suffer losses and others that Karan Johar must respect the anti-Pak national sentiment. But as of now Karan Johar is standing firm. This has turned him into a hate figure. On Twitter he is being trashed for picking profit over patriotism. He's not alone. Several other stars of various stripes have been pilloried for standing with KJo.
They are being questioned for suggesting that the government has abdicated its responsibility by not taking a stand on the issue and outsourcing onus to the industry. Is this is a moot point or a pretext?
