A grievous terror attack in Kashmir brought home the dangers of flirting with Pakistan as Kashmir's Chief Minister has been over the last few weeks. Indeed, Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has attempted to do his best to appease Pakistan and those that are allied with it.
First he forced the Modi government to resume the peace process with Pakistan. Then he insisted separatists must be engaged by the centre and regarded as equal stake holders in any internal dialogue on kashmir's future. But most provocatively mufti also released elements who are supported by Pakistan's dirty tricks department the ISI and who have been jailed for anti-India activities.
