MUMBAI: On one hand where Mumbai Police is seeking more time to question wife of television tycoon, Indrani Mukerjea, her lawyers on the other hand have claimed that she has already been quizzed for approximately 80-90 hours and there is nothing really left to question more.
“Questioning for approximately 80 to 90 hours has been done already and there is nothing remaining for which her custody is required,” Indrani’s lawyers argued in the court. (Also Read: I was sleeping in the car when Sheena Bora was being murdered, says Indrani’s ex husband Sanjeev Khanna)
Fighting for her, they also added that in spite of the orders from the court, ‘not even one minute of private legal consultation has been allowed’. Indrani’s lawyer has also submitted an application seeking permission to meet the client privately without the police presence. (Also Read: Indrani Mukerjea-Sheena Bora Case: 8 things you must know)
The Mumbai Police have also included Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the remand application stating that Indrani also attempted to kill her son Mikhail Bora. The application also added that there is doubt of more people from outside state being involved in the crime. Mumbai Police along with Indrani is also seeking more time to interrogate other accused in the case including former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai. All three were present in the court for a hearing on their custody extension amid tight security.
Indrani’s lawyers have also claimed that her face appeared bruised when they met her and have claimed that she was being beaten up by the cops.
Indrani and Sanjeev’s daughter Vidhi Mukerjea were present in the court earlier in the day today. Following their divorce, Vidhie was reportedly adopted by Indrani’s current husband and former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea.
