NEW DELHI: The new Nanaksakhi calendar, which is released by the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee), has marked Indira Gandhi's killers as martyrs.

The Nanaksakhi calendar features the deaths of the killers of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Ex-Army Chief Vaidya as Martyrdom Day.

While slamming SGPC calender, the Congress said that it is yet more evidence of growing radicalisation of the state and a conspiracy.

The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) is the highest Sikh administrative body and while its authority over the release of the new calendar is not in question, however critics have accused it of pandering to radicals. The Congress has now stepped up its attack demanding that the national government explain its stand on the issue.

The Congress on Sunday sought explanation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is the part of coalition government in Punjab over the death anniversaries of the assassins of Indira Gandhi.
