NEW DELHI: It seems there is no end to the verbal war amongst the politicians over the lynching of 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq over rumours that his family consumed beef.
On one hand where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sangeet Som promised bail for all the accused in the case, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on the other hand claimed that the killing of Akhlaq was planned and executed by the BJP. Adding more fuel to the fire now, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj has also stirred another controversy by claiming that they are ready to kill or be killed to protect cows from slaughter. “We would not stay silent and calm if somebody tries to kill our mother. We are ready to kill or be killed. The Uttar Pradesh government possess of double standards which have already been exposed. The way everyone is politicizing the entire incident is commendable,” Maharaj said.
In the mean while, the UP government has submitted its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs on the frightening episode. However, the report has failed to mention lynching and has rather said that the Akhlaq was killed for consuming the meat of an animal that was banned for slaughter.
Expressing displeasure over the incident, Union Finance Minister Arun Jailtley said, “India is a mature society. We need to rise above these kinds of incidents because they certainly don’t give a good name as far as the country is concerned.”
Also, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath called for a low ban cow slaughter. Speaking on the gruesome incident in Dadri, Adityanath said, “Samajwadi Party leader’s statement of taking Dadri matter to the United Nations is shameful. Such minister should be suspended. The incident is the result of carelessness of state administration. Cow slaughtering is on top in Uttar Pradesh.” (Also Read: Dadri Beef Lynching Case: BJP Leader’s son, UP Homeguard arrested for spreading beef rumour)

Akhlaq’s 22-year-old son Danish was also attacked in the incident and was severely injured and was hospitalized following two brain surgeries.
The incident has sparked massive uproar in the country where different parties are attacking the BJP for allegedly spreading rumours and accusing that the killing was a result of ‘politics of hatred’.
The key accused in the case Vishal Rana is the son of BJP leader Sanjay Rana. According to the reports, 8 out 11 accused are related to the BJP leader.
