Expressing his strong dissent on the ink attack by the Shiv Sena on his former strategist Sudheendra Kulkarni, L K Advani, Senior Leader, BJP, said that the incident is an outcome off the growing intolerance developing amongst people against those who have a different viewpoint. Expressing his disappointment over the issue, Advani said, “I do not want to name anybody, but such incidents show a growing intolerance towards views that are different from one’s own. I strongly condemn the attack.”
Sudhendra Kulkarni was attacked by the Shiv Sena, for his involvement in the event organised for launching Former Pakistan Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s book, ‘Neither a Hawk nor a Dove.’
Shiv Sena, accepting that the attack was initiated by them, said that it was a ‘mild protest’ to Kulkarni’s invitation to Kasuri. (Also Read: The show must go on…: Sudheendra Kulkarni denies the cancelling of Pak minister's book launch despite ink attack by Shiv Sena)
The incident seems to be shocking because Shiv Sena is an alliance partner of the BJP in the Maharashtra government.
Advani had gone to release the inaugural issue of the journal ‘Chanakya’ where he talked about the incident. Advani’s statements seemed to reverberate Pranab Mukherjee’s message of diversity, tolerance and plurality to the Government a few days back.
