PM Modi, Geeta, Pakistan

Geeta, the deaf-mute young Indian woman returned to India today morning. She had accidentally crossed the border over to Pakistan about 10 years ago when she was a child and was living in Pakistan since then.

After arriving in New Delhi today morning, Geeta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Geeta had been taken care of by a Pakistani NGO called Edhi Foundation during her stay in Pakistan for almost a decade. Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi today met Geeta and the members of the Edhi Foundation. He was pleased by the way the foundation had looked after Geeta. "What the Edhi family has done is too priceless to be measured, but I am happy to announce a contribution of Rs. 1 crore to their foundation", PM Modi tweeted. He also said, "I don't think any amount of words are enough to thank the Edhi family for taking care of Geeta. They are apostles of kindness & compassion."

Geeta was also scheduled to meet senior diplomats from the Pakistan High Commission, but the reception was cancelled in view of the earthquake that hit Pakistan in which more than 70 lives were lost.
