DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi are to meet the President Pranab Mukherjee today at 6.30 pm.
The mother-son duo will be meeting the President to have a talk regarding the growing intolerance in the country. The two leaders will be accompanied by senior leaders and MPs of the party.
A march by the Congress party against the Central government is also expected to be held on November 3rd, sources say.
Yesterday Sonia Gandhi hit out at the government in a function saying, “Won’t allow anti-National forces to succeed.” In connection to the recent incidents of communal violence, the party president also said, “Our pluralism is in danger today.”
Targeting BJP and indirectly indicating their hand behind the communal hatred incidents, she said, “The diversity that makes us stand out is now being misused by vested interests.”
According to sources, Congress is planning a mega-offensive to counter the government during the next parliament session and ‘rising hate and communal violence’ is going to be the first thing on their agenda.
