Senior journalist Diptosh Majumdar who served admirably as National Affairs Editor with NewsX channel, passed away on Sunday after brief illness at a private hospital in Delhi.
Majumdar, 57, was suffering from acute myelocytic leukemia (AML) and was admitted to the Apollo hospital Sarita Vihar in the last week of January. He was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the last four- five days.
He started his career as a city reporter at the Statesman, Kolkata after which he joined brands such as the Times of India and The Telegraph. Before NewsX, he was working with CNN IBN as a National Affairs Editor.
On January 28, Diptosh had tweeted, “Ok, I need 25 units of blood by Saturday at Apollo Sarita Vihar. The donation time is between 10 am and 5 pm. Sorry if I’m causing trouble.”
Rahul Shivshankar, Editor-In-Chief, NewsX, said “Diptosh had an unstinting commitment to the craft of long form journalism and he wanted to explore news event in deeper perspective and weave a broader narrative around events — political and social.”
