Amethi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the suspension of BJP MP Kirti Azad from the party over DDCA corruption charges, during his two day visit to his constituency Amethi.
"Modi-ji said na khaunga na khaane dunga (neither will I indulge in corruption, nor allow anyone else to indulge in it). Now that his MP has pointed out corruption (in the cricket body), he has been suspended," Rahul Gandhi said.
"Ab Modi-ji jawaab dein... (Let Modi reply to the issue now)," he said.
The Congress vice president said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must order a probe to investigate into the affairs of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
The BJP on Wednesday suspended Darbhanga MP Kirti Azad from the party for alleging large-scale corruption in DDCA when it was headed by present Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Kirti Azad in a press conference reiterated the presence of financial irregularities during Arun Jaitley’s tenure as the DDCA Chief. Jaitley headed DDCA for 13 years until 2013.
The DDCA issue came into the forefront when the CBI raided the office of Delhi CM’s principal secretary’s office. Kirti Azad’s suspension followed after he confirmed Jaitley’s involvement in the corruption incident.
Amidst his visit, Gandhi also met party workers, office-bearers of district Congress units and interacted with over 200 newly elected village heads during his visit.
