NEW DELHI: The PMO has sought explanation on Tuesday from Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu over trains running late after it received complaints by the passengers, sources said.
According to the sources, the complaints were being forwarded to the Railway Ministry which were received by the PMO from past two or three days and the ministry was asked to follow the same schedule as it was followed during emergency and the trains were on time.
However, the railway minister reacting to the report clarified, “It's my duty to ensure regular monitoring of punctuality of trains. Slackness in the system has to be corrected.”
“We have been told that during the emergency trains ran on time. We are taking out old files from that time to study the patterns of train punctuality,” said a senior railway ministry official.
