After a separate flag, J&K might be headed towards getting its own President and Prime Minister as well. J&K MLA Rashid Engineer is all set to move a bill that threatens to sever Kashmir from the union.
The bill suggests replacement of Governor with the President and the Chief Minister with the Prime Minister. Film actor Anupam Kher and lawyer Subramanian Swamy have indicated at approaching the Supreme Court over the issue.
Speaking on the development, actor Anupam Kher said, “It would not be fair to comment since I do not know the technicalities of court’s statement, but I personally feel that there should be a single flag within a country.”
Questioning the move, senior advocate Subramanian Swamy said, “Constituent assembly of J&K has already concluded that Kashmir is an integral part of India. The matter should have ended there", he said.
The bill is supported by the National Conference, while PDP is shying away from taking a firm stand on the issue. The issue has once again sparked the debate of ‘One Nation, One flag’.
