Yogendra, Prashant to form a new party?

NEW DELHI: A lot is being witnessed from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that came into power in February this year enjoying a big majority. Even though the party Chief Arvind Kejriwal claims that ‘everything is fine within AAP’, the case does not seem to be so. It becomes all the more clear as senior party leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, placed dangerously on the verge of expulsion have called for a meeting on April 14. Yadav and Bhushan have called their supporters from both within and outside the party at the Constitution Club in the national capital on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar, who drafted the Indian Constitution.

On the reports of the duo forming a fresh party, Yadav while speaking to a news channel expressed that he would only ‘consider about the new party after expulsion and AAP is not a party that belongs to one person’. Saying that, Yadav also repeated his charges against the Delhi Chief Minister that he runs the show without any consultation with the colleagues.

Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, both founding members of the AAP have been removed from the party National Executive.

According to the reports, the party is now preparing to oust the two leaders on disciplinary grounds as they stand accused of working against their party chief and trying ineffectively to weaken the campaign of the party in the Delhi election, which ended with a record-breaking result for India’s youngest party, and once again, brought Arvind Kejriwal back for a second term as Chief Minister.

The meeting on the Ambedkar Jayanti by the rebels is likely to have activist Medha Patkar who recently resigned from AAP to stand united with Yadav and Bhushan and Admiral L Ramdas, who was removed as the party’s Lokpal to discuss the rebels’ stand.
