New Delhi: Thanks to the efficiency of aerial surveillance, the terrorists who attacked an Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot were detected immediately as they made their way into the station. An official statement issued on Friday also mentioned that the motive of the terrorists to destroy valuable assets of the Air Force had also been nulled.
The statement issued by the IAF claimed, in the midst of the various operations being carried on in and around the base, that the plan of the terrorists had been foiled mainly because of “effective preparations” and “coordinated efforts.”
In the statement, it was also mentioned that intelligence regarding the infiltration in the military base had been received prior to the attempt, and it was this information which enabled them to thwart the attack.
The Western Air Command chief, Air Marshal S.B. Deo, is on location and personally supervising and coordinating with the Army, NSG and local civil police for exchange of information and operational activities, the statement said.
