BIHAR: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday made a racist comment on Congress President Sonia Gandhi’, claiming, “If Rajiv Gandhi had married a Nigerian then would Congress have accepted her as a President?”

Taking a swipe on Congress Vice-President’s absence from Parliament, Giriraj Singh, 63, claimed that Rahul Gandhi has become like missing Malaysian Plane.

Meanwhile, Congress leader RPN Singh demanded, saying “Prime Minister should apologise for Giriraj Singh’s sexist comment.”

“I strongly condemned the racist remark made by Giriraj Singh against Sonia Gandhi. It is not derogatory to Sonia Gandhi, but to all women of this country,” RPN Singh said, adding we need apology from Prime Minister.

However, Giriraj Singh, expressing regret over his sexist remark, said “My comment is taken out of context. If it hurt Sonia Gandhi, I regret.”

Giriraj Singh’s sexist comment came just a day after Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar allegedly advised the agitating nurses that they should not stage hunger strike in the sun because it will make them 'dark' and 'ruin their marital prospects'.

Meanwhile, Goa CM denied making any sexist jibe, saying “I did not say anything derogatory.”
