Lt Colonel Niranjan Kumar laid to rest with full state honours

Palakkad: Pathankot martyr Lt. Colonel Niranjan kumar was today laid to rest with full state honours in the presence of hundreds who gathered to bid him farewell on his last journey.
The 34-year-old officer, a part of the bomb detection squad of NSG, made the supreme sacrifice on Sunday while defusing a grenade from a terrorist’s body during the combing operation at the Air Force base in Pathankot.
His mortal remains were taken to Bangalore from Pathankot before being flown to his native village in Kerala where his last rites were performed. Col Niranjan was cremated in the temple area owned by the family near his ancestral home.
He is survived by his father 67-year-old EK Shivarajan, his wife Dr KG Radhika, a dentist, and a two-year-old daughter.
