Ashok Khemka tweets after his 45th transfer

NEW DELHI: Following his transfer to an inconsequential posting by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the senior Haryana cadre IAS officer Ashok Khemka has expressed the moment ‘truly painful’ on Twitter.

The order by the government led Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lala Khattar on Wednesday indicates that the senior whistleblower officer has been transferred 45 times in his service of 24 years.

“Tried hard to address corruption and bring reforms in Transport despite severe limitations and entrenched interests. Moment is truly painful,” Khemka posted on his Twitter wall after he was posted as Secretary, Archaeology and Museums Department and Director General, Archaeology and Museums.

49-year-old Ashok Khemka was appointed as the Transport Commissioner and Secretary, Transport Department in 2014 after Manohar Lal Khattar assumed officer as the state’s Chief Minister. During that time, Khemka, who had blown the cover off from the controversial multi-million-rupee land deals of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi was pushed to get an important assignment. Though, he was posted in the transport department.

While the government has not suggested any reason for his transfer, the BJP led team only mentioned his name in the list of being transferred.

In the mean time, nine other senior officers such as SS Dhillon, a former principal secretary to previous chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who has now been made additional chief secretary, Transport and Civil Aviation Department were as well transferred by the new Haryana government.

Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Khattar, Sumita Misra, has been posted as Principal Secretary, Tourism department.
