Pakistani pilgrims denied visa to India
India has denied visa to 75 Pakistan High Commission officials on procedural grounds. These officials were scheduled to visit Hafiz Abdullah shrine near Agra from Jan 11 to Jan 18.
Voicing its protest against the decision, Pakistan has accused India of violating the pilgrimage protocol.
On the other hand, Indian officials have denied the charges. The Indian authorities have said that the decision was taken due to non-compliance to the protocol by Pakistani pilgrims. As per the India-Pak pilgrim protocol, the members of the organisational committee have to take an undertaking from a person who represents the pilgrims and ensures that they will stay confined to the particular religious place and not move to other parts of the country during their visit.
However, in this particular case, no details of specifics about accommodation and duration of the stay were mentioned in the visa of the pilgrims as per officials.
