In a not-so-funny turn of the events for the show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, one of its actors, Kiku Sharda, who usually imitates well-known personalities on stage, has been arrested for mimicking Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The actor was first detained in Mumbai while shooting for the last episode of the ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ show. The FIR had been filed by the followers of Gurmeet Singh who were offended by the actor’s imitation of their leader.
According to reports, further investigation will take place in Haryana where the FIR was first filed. The actor will be taken to Haryana where he will be produced before the local court for insulting and humiliating the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda.
The Comedy Nights actor has been sent to 14-day judicial custody and has been booked under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code. Although Kiku Sharda did tender an apology earlier, the followers are seeking further action for ‘humiliating their god’.
Doston the act on TV was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. My apologies to @Gurmeetramrahim ji and his followers. Let’s spread happiness.

Asked about why they had arrested the actor when all kinds of personalities were being imitated on the show, Jawahar Yadav, OSD to the Chief Minister of Haryana, said, “If all people are imitated on the show, it does not mean that they can break the law. The FIR has been filed on him because he might have hurt religious sentiments of the people.”
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, is also an actor himself who has acted in movies like MSG: The Messenger and MSG-2: The Messenger.
