The intolerance debate has not yet ended in Bollywood. Aamir Khan recently clarified on his controversial statement on intolerance in India by saying that his statement had been misrepresented and that his words were twisted by the media.
In an event recently, Aamir said, “Neither did I say that India is intolerant nor will I ever leave my country.” Adding further, he said, “I was born in India and will die here.”
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, BJP Leader said, “We always supported him and it’s his right to stay in this country.” Nalin Kohli, BJP spokesperson, “He is an Indian and he has never given any indication that he himself seeks to be outside of the country.”
Taking a dig at Aamir Khan, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar issued a statement few days back exclaiming that every nation faces ups and downs and one should not start making “bold” statements. He further added that he was a proud Indian.  Akshay also said that people have the habit of only pointing out the wrong things.
Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha said that a lot of people from Bollywood have brought up the issue of intolerance which, according to him, is childish.
The intolerance debate has divided Bollywood with actors like Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar and Akshay Kumar hitting out at Aamir, Shah Rukh and Karan Johar for voicing their opinion over the right to freedom of speech having decreased in recent times.
