Jharkhand landmine blast: Two policemen killed, five other injured

Ranchi: Two policemen were killed and five injured in a landmine blast triggered by suspected Maoists in Jharkhand's Palamau district, police said.
According to police, security personnel were travelling in a vehicle when Maoist guerrillas triggered a powerful landmine blast.
Two policemen, including the vehicle's driver, died on the spot while five policemen were seriously injured as the incident took place near Kalapahri situated under Chattarpur police station of Palamau district, around 170 km from Ranchi.

134 Battalion’s Commandant CRPF SK Linda said the explosive became active when their vehicle, which was leading other security personnel consisting of district arm forces and paramilitary troops, was leading other military personnel.
The injured policemen were hospitalised. Their condition is deemed serious.
Eighteen of Jharkhand's 24 districts are facing the Maoist menace. Jharkhand has been repeatedly subjected to Maoist experiments against the govt which has resulted in the deaths of civilians and army officials.
