Three policemen shot dead in militants attack in Shopian, J&K

SRINAGAR: Three unarmed police officials were shot dead on Monday by the militants at Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir.

Three policemen, including one head constable and two constables were killed in the attack after they went to investigate a crime in a village, said a police officer, adding the policemen were unarmed when the militants opened fire on them.

This is the second terrorist attack on the policemen within hours in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, a police officer was critically injured at Pattan in Baramulla district of the Kashmir valley.

According to the police official, Sub Inspector Ghulam Mustafa was shot at by militants in a bus which was on its way to Pattan. The driver of the bus took the bus to a local police post where the cops shifted the injured officer to a nearby hospital.

In another incident, suspected militants shot at and injured a civilian in South Kashmir's Tral.
