HYDERABAD: Five suspected Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) have been killed in Warangal, Telangana as the group tried to escape from the police custody.
The group of five terrorists was being taken to Hyderabad from Warangal when they attacked the police officials accompanying them at the highway from Warangal to Hyderabad.
The terrorists even tried to seize the weapons from the police officials and escape after which the security personnel opened fire at them, informed a police official.
According to the Telangana police, all five had connections with ISI and were working with SIMI and this is the second major incident in past few days involving SIMI terrorists.
After the news of suspected terrorists moving around in the state was revealed, the state has been put up on high alert.
Earlier, two alleged SIMI activists, identified as Mohammad Ejazuddin and Mohammad Aslam were shot dead during an encounter with police in the Nalagonda district of Telangana.
The duo killed on April 4 was among five SIMI members who escaped from Khandwa jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013.
