BENGALURU: Protesting against the beef ban, some Dalit organizations have organized a beef eating programme on Thursday in Bengaluru.

The event organizers have invited renowned playwright and actor Girish Karnad to attend the function and consume beef as a protest against the ban by the Maharashtra government. According to them, Karnad has even approved to participate in the event and eat beef sitting with them.

Other famous Kannada theatre personalities such as Dr K Marulasiddappa have also been invited to the protest which has been organized outside Town hall in the center of Bengaluru.

The beef ban is a direct attack in the diverse food culture of India and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre is imposing its idea of the people; believe the organizers who intend to send memoranda to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Opposing the event, the BJP has called the intention of an event as a deliberate insult to the Hindu beliefs by people like Karnad.

On the other hand, Bengaluru police feel that any effort to upset the law and order will be dealt strictly.
