Dipti Sarna, the missing 23-year-old employee from Snapdeal in Delhi has now been found in Haryana. She was kidnapped on her way home to Ghaziabad and had been last seen in an auto on her way home from Vaishali Metro Station to Ghaziabad bus stand at 8:30pm on a Wednesday.
Family and friends of the missing 23-year-old had appealed on social media for any information leading to her whereabouts. Her grandfather KN Sarna said that at 6.00 a.m. Deepti called-up her father Narendra Sarna from an unknown mobile number and told him that she had managed to flee from Karnal and had reached the New Delhi Railway station. She asked him to pick her up from the station.
Her family expressed their gratitude to the Ghaziabad police and to the media for their efforts towards locating Dipti Sarna.
The police had tried to trace her initial phone call where she had called to tell her family that the autorickshaw was taking her in the wrong direction. When police failed to trace the girl even after 30 hours, residents staged a protest by blocking roads and held a sit-in at Hapur road outside the SSP's Office. They had used a method called ‘dumping’ to track her to a location in Panipat.
It is not yet known what transpired during the 48 hours that Dipti Sarna was missing as her family and the police have not questioned her about the incident due to her being in a delicate mental state.
