New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was questioned for nearly five hours by Delhi police. He was quizzed in the case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar’s death that took place under mysterious circumstances. The police quizzed him regarding the death and the cause of it. Tharoor dismissed any foul play and claimed that she died due to medical overdose.
This third round of questioning mainly revolved around the following three questions:Did tharoor buy the Alprax tablets?
Who bought Sunanda’s medication if not Shashi? What happened in the KIMS checkup? What did the checkup report contain?
The police said that the death was not natural and that they were trying to ascertain whether it was Tharoor or somebody related to him who could be the abetter behind Sunanda’s death.
The probe is not cantered towards the angle that Sunanda was not murdered but had killed herself. All probable angles and possibilities are being probed.
Several people including Sunanda’s driver and the person from whom she could have purchased the tablets from have been questioned in this regard. The police are also trying to find out what was the dose of the medicine which were bought and the one which was consumed.
The police are moving towards this direction of the investigation and are all set to file a detail report by the end of February.
CPI leader D Raja said that it was a judicial case and being the husband of the deceased it was as per law that Tharoor be questioned if required. He said the law was taking its own course.
Meanwhile Sandeep Diskshit has said that Shashi Tharoor is an effective and popular politician and the BJP is trying to taint his name and trying to target the Congress party through Tharoor. He said that nothing new had been found in the two-year old case and that it was clear that the Delhi police and other authorities were working under pressure.
Mr Dikshit said he feared that under pressure from Mr Modi, the BJP and the Home Minister, it was possible that Delhi police would end up taking a wrong decision that otherwise the law would not permit them to.
