Journalists stage protest over attack
New Delhi: Delhi journalists on Tuesday staged a protest march against the violence that took place in Patiala House Courts on Monday, where some of them as well as students were beaten up.
The march, that started from Press Club of India near the Parliament House, will go up to the Supreme Court as scheduled.
Some journalists and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students were assaulted by a group of lawyers at the Patiala Courts where JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was to be presented.
The journalists are demanding arrest of the lawyers who thrashed reporters and students within the court complex and also action against the police personnel who merely stood as spectators to the incident.
Four journalists and some JNU students were assaulted at the Patiala House courts by a section of lawyers on Monday.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the alleged anti-national activities at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus while Delhi Police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) over some lawyers thrashing journalists at the Patiala House court on Monday.
