New Delhi: Stepping in to resolve water crisis in Delhi, the Supreme Court, on Monday issued notice to Centre, UP and Haryana government over the issue of Munak Canal.
During a hearing on Delhi Government’s petition on prevailing water crisis in Delhi, the court also directed the Delhi Government Council to solve the problems on ground. The court also attacked AAP government for poor governance saying co-operative attitude is required by the government to resolve the matter.
The SC has also demanded a status report to access the ground situation. The next hearing will take place on Thursday.
Meanwhile AAP leader and head of Delhi Jal Board, Kapil Mishra has assured Delhites that partial water supply will be restored by the evening.
It is important to note that he Munak canal in Haryana, which supplies water to many parts of Delhi, was shut down after it was vandalised by a section of Jats demanding quota in government jobs and educational institutions. The move has resulted in water crisis in the capital.
