New Delhi: AIADMK members interrupted proceedings in both Houses of Parliament demanding action on former Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram on the Aircel-Maxis issue.
Both, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned twice.
The controversy relates to the taking-over of Aircel by Maxis, a Malaysian company owned by business tycoon T Ananda Krishnan in 2006 by buying 74% of its shares. Aircel was first promoted by NRI tycoon C Sivasankaran.
This deal became controversial after the 2G spectrum scam when the Supreme Court asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe then telecom minister A Raja’s predecessors.
In Rajya Sabha AIADMK member’s disrupted proceedings by raising slogans to demand action against Karti and P Chidambaram. The House witnessed two adjournments in the pre-noon session. As soon as the House assembled for the Zero Hour, AIADMK members gathered around and waved copies of the newspaper.
Karti Chidambram while talking to media said “all my businesses are completely compliant, all filings are up to date all statutory, regulatory filings are completely up to date”.
