New Delhi: An exclusive expose by NewsX created ripples in both Houses of Parliament on Wednesday. After a letter by RSV Mani, former home ministry official, was made public, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its attack on the Congress.
Mani was the second home ministry official after GK Pillai to speak about the case. Mani said he was tortured, burnt with a cigarette and forced to sign and file the second affidavit.
Mani said “I refused to sign the statement as signing would be tantamount to falsely indicting my seniors.”
Mani’s letter about his conversation with the SIT chief in the matter has created ripples.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi defended the then Home Minister P Chidambaram saying he has already given a clarification in the matter and there was nothing new in these accusations.
The Congress has also questioned Mani’s credibility and called a press conference. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also raise the issue in a BJP meeting later in the day.
