My words have been ‘mischievously misinterpreted’, says Sheila Dikshit after a jibe at Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Taking a clear jibe at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi who continues to remain missing even during a politically volatile season, Congress leader Sheila Dikshit has reportedly said, “There are question marks over Rahul Gandhi’s leadership qualities; Sonia should continue to lead the Congress.”

The former Delhi Chief Minister reportedly said, “Sonia does not ‘run away’ from responsibilities and challenges; the Congress can rely on her for its revival.”

However, Dikshit later clarified her explosive statement and said that her ‘words have been misinterpreted’. “I never said Rahul is not capable. I only spoke about Sonia Gandhi. My words have been mischievously misinterpreted,” she said.

44-year-old Rahul Gandhi has been on ‘a leave of absence’ (as described by his party) for weeks that has been extended several times.

In spite of a Despite a bunch of electoral losses racked up after campaigns led by the Gandhi scion, he is likely to replace his mother soon as the Congress President.

Congress leader and Sheila Dikshit’s son, Sandeep Dikshit recently indicated that the promotion is improbable of benefitting the party.

Rahul Gandhi is likely to return to the political ground soon to address his party’s rally in Delhi next weekend against the land reforms bill of government, which has been tagged as the ‘anti-farmer’ by the Opposition.
