Sri Nagar: A gunfight between security forces and separatist guerrillas broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday evening, police said.
"Following specific information about the presence of militants in Buchroo village of Kulgam, security forces surrounded a house there in the evening," as last reported.
"As the security forces closed in, they came under heavy gunfire from the hiding militants after which a gunfight started and is going on (as of 8 p.m.)," a senior police officer told IANS here.
"Two militants are believed to be hiding inside the house," the police officer added.
Last week, three terrorists were killed in the Tral sector of Kashmir in a gun battle with the security forces. Security forces had launched a search operation in Dadsara on Wednesday night on leads of militants’ presence in the area.
The terrorists were reported to be from Hizbul Mujahideen. All the three terrorists were holed up in a house by the security forces and were killed in the crossfire.
