Reasi: On the eve of Maha Shivaratri on Sunday, the three day event of the Shivkhori Mela commenced on Sunday at Ransoo in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Tourism Department, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) and the Reasi district administration jointly organise this mela at the base camp of the Shivkhori Shrine in Ransoo.

The Shiv Khori is a cave shrine that is dedicated Lord Shiva and is visited by lakhs of visitors every year.

With intents of raising tourism in the area, the inaugural ceremony mela has been organised at SHiv Shakti Bhavan in Ransoo. The SSKSB has made every effort to provide all necessary facilities at the mela, this year. In order to make the event more popular by taking measures to provide attendees with adequate drinking water, power supply, medicare facility, sanitation, security, law and order, traffic control, barricading, transport, accommodation, cultural programmes, PAS system, repair of roads, special checking drive for ensuring quality and rates of eatables during mela, parking of vehicle, installation of hoarding and sign boards and exhibition of stalls by different departments.

Local MLA Ajay Nanda was present at the inauguration along with District Development Commissioner of Reasi and SSKSB vice-chairperson, Sushma Chauhan.
