New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz introduced its armoured vehicles segment in India by launching the Rs 10.50-crore Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard on Tuesday. It was earlier displayed at the Auto Expo 2016.
Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is a civilian vehicle to be certified with the highest ballistic protection level VR10, and is one of the safest luxury sports vehicles in the world. This means the car can not only withstand bullets, but also protect its incumbents from blasts, rocket-propelled grenades, explosives, fires and even heavy sniper firing
The Mercedes-Benz Guard range in India currently comprises of Mercedes-Maybach and S 600 Guard.
Part of the protection concept is that it takes a very keen eye to distinguish the armoured version of the Maybach from its series-produced counterpart. A series of special technical features also ensures that the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard remains mobile during and also after an attack and is able to exit the danger zone.
This super luxury sedan is powered by a monstrous V12 petrol engine. Twelve-cylinder power pack Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard’s powerful V12 petrol engine generates 390 kW (530 hp) power. 830 Nm of torque and the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission in this car with its lower fuel consumption and rapid acceleration make it easy for the car to make a quick escape when in the danger zone. For weight reasons the top speed is electronically limited to 190 km/h.
