Haridwar: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s new food park in Haridwar will have 24/7 protection from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
CISF will provide round the clock security services to the food park, Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Private Limited placing 35 of its personnel on grounds.
These measures are being taken in light of the fact that one person died following clashes between security guards at the food park and truckers who were upset with out-of-state operators being used.
While questions are being raised as to why the government is offering CISF services to a private sector company when they refused to do so even in light of the 26/11 attacks in the case of Mumbai’s Taj Hotel. The government had justified the case saying that it is not a ‘critical’ sector and could manage its security needs by employing private agencies.
While CISF does handle private sector clients such as Reliance's Jamnagar refinery, Infosys campuses in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Pune, Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, Tata Steel in Kalinganagar, Odisha and Electronic City, Bengaluru. These fit into their general practices as all of these companies belong to sectors such as IT, oil, power and steel.
CISF Director General Surender Singh has, however, said that Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Private Limited will be bearing all of the financial expenses for the security provided.
