Mumbai: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Waris Pathan was on Wednesday suspended from Maharashtra Assembly after he refused to say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

There was ruckus in the assembly after BJP leader Ram Kadam asked him to say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. However, Pathan refused it.  The BJP leader announced 1 Cr reward to mutilate and chop off AIMIM MLA Waris Pathan's tongue.

This action of him outraged the leaders of other parties who also demanded his immediate suspension.

"What is wrong in saying 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'? The country where we live is our mother," Congress leader Hussain Dalwai, said.

To this untoward incident, Owaisi said- “It's a bad precedent.”

Saamna too issued venom against Pathan. "Kill people like Waris with law", it said. Except Sena, all other political parties including BJP and NCP too hailed this move.

A few days ago, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had said that he would not say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife is put to his throat.

Pathan will not be allowed to enter the Assembly for the entire budget session.

The Minister of State (Parliamentary Affairs) Ranit Patil had moved a proposal for the suspension of Pathan’s membership for the duration of the ongoing budget session. The house approved the proposal.
