JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar

New Delhi: The hearing of a petition filed against the bail granted to Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union President Kanhaiya Kumar was fixed for March 23 by Delhi High Court.
The Delhi High court granted a 6-month interim bail to Kanhaiya Kumar on March 2 nearly after three weeks of his arrest on sedition charges for raising anti-national slogans on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in an event on February 9.

A plea was filed against his bail in the Delhi High Court on the basis of Kanhaiya’s ‘anti-national’ behaviour being witnessed while he was delivering his speech. Also, his statement made on the Indian Army that the Jawans rape Kashmiri women was highly condemned and infuriated the larger part of the country which lead to filing of this petition.
Kanhaiya was granted bail on certain terms and conditions including a written bond asking him to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.
