Kolkata: The rising heat over Trinamool Congress (TMC) sting operation was fuelled further on Thursday in yet another setback for Trinamool Congress. TMC’s Panchayat president Talamoyee Tudu was arrested for not obeying a High Court order.
Allegedly, she was charged for encroaching government land. Following the charge, the Calcutta High Court asked Talamoyee to be present in the court but she denied the directions on multiple counts, resulting in the high court issuing an arrest warrant. She was subsequently arrested by police in Malda.
Trinamool has found itself in a tight corner over a sting operation where in a video, prominent TMC leaders were found taking bribes. Heated words were exchanged between state Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Left members when the issue was raised in Lok Sabha on March 16.
