New Delhi: As per RTI documents accessed by NewsX, shocking facts have now come to light.
According to the documents, multiple bollywood stars have travelled to the Maharashtra tourism department’s events in New York City to promote their movies.
Shocking part here is that their travel expenditure was borne by none other than Maharashtra state government itself.
The stars include Aditya Roy Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra who travelled to USA to promote their movie‘Daawat-e-Ishq’.
In total, the stars, the cast and crew were paid close to 14,50,299. The details were accessed by NewsX that how taxpayers money is being spent for promotion of the film at Times Square in September 2014.
This comes right after NewsX promoted how many VIPs have failed to pay their security as well as how Indian cricket star Mahnedra Singh Dhoni evade tax of Rs.4 lakhs.
It is not about the top corportae honchos like Vijay Mallya but it is also about the movie stars. The promotion of the movie abroad itself is a big business.
Jitendra, the RTI activist brought out these details to NewsX. He actually contacted the government to scoop out the details.
"I came across this report accidentally and wanted to bring it in the notice. Here, farmers are committing suicide for a loan of just Rs, 50,000 and these people are paying taxpayer’s money for the promotion of their film, Jitendra said.
How can government allegedly fund Rs. 14 lakh travel bill for the promotion of their film? He taunts.
