Fadnavis sends legal notice to Digvijaya for his ‘nepotism’ comment

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s lawyer Ganesh Sovani on Sunday sent a legal notice to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for alleged ‘defamatory’ tweets. This came a day after Digvijaya Singh accused Fadnavis of ‘nepotism.’
Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) in Mumbai, headed by Fadnavis, had asked its people to open accounts in Worli branch of Axis Bank for rent payment to eligible slum dwellers. Hitting at the same, Digvijaya Singh posted in a series of tweets that such an instruction was passed because Mrs Fadnavis is the vice-president of Axis Bank and termed it as “heights of nepotism.”
In response to this, Maharashtra CM’s lawyer has now sent a legal notice to Congress general secretary seeking an apology within two weeks, failing of which will lead to further legal proceedings.

Maharashtra CM’s office has issued a clarification mentioning that Fadnavis’ wife works in the corporate section of the lower Parel branch of Axis Bank in Central Mumbai and that she has no targets to complete.
Fadnavis has also mentioned clearly that if the allegations are not retracted, then he will file a defamation case against Digvijaya Singh.
