Tamil Nadu: Ahead of the Tamil Nadu polls, a massive row erupted with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) knocking at the doorstep of the election commission alleging violation of the model code of conduct by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is not satisfied with just covering Jayalalithaa’s photograph ahead of the polls. It has asked EC to take the note to the word ‘Amma’ to be seen everywhere, every brand Amma product across the street. The party feels the word ‘Amma’ has the potential to win influence voters ahead of the polls and it is a very clear violation of the model code of conduct.
On the other hand, AIADMK slammed DMK stating that there is no violation of election model code of conduct, adding that the word ‘Amma’ is a generic word which was accepted by the EC during the last Lok Sabha polls.
TKS  Elangovan, spokesperson of DMK said, “Election commission should understand that name Amma means Jayalalithaa that is why government has brand so many things and named them as Amma . So we have put pressure on election commission to understand how name Amma is used in the state.”
Tamil Nadu election will be held on 16th May, 2016.
