New Delhi: In a fresh controversy, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has taken on Akhilesh Yadav over the Muzaffarnagar riots that took place in 2013 and has questioned the clean chit given to the SP and BJP leaders.

Owaisi while addressing the media said, “Muzaffarnagar riots took place after independence. More than 50,000 Indians lost their homes because of the riots. More than 60 people died. The clean chit report clearly states that only two people are responsible for the riots. What kind of report is this where sovereignty gets a clean chit.”

“RSS is holding a public meeting in Lucknow today but I have not been granted permission for the same. UP government is responsible for Muzzafarnagar riots”, he further added.

The report has held two bureaucrats responsible for the riot — Subhash Chandra Dubey, chief superintendent of Muzaffarnagar and local intelligence inspector Prabal Pratap Singh.

Justice Vishnu Sahai commission has given a clean chit to all the political bigwigs and has made the district administration accountable for what happened but it did not hold the state government responsible for what happened in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
